Wm.K. Walthers is one of the largest model railroad equipment manufacturers in the world. Founded by Bill Walthers in 1932, the company started with its operations in the O scale market. After earning and expanding its operations well, it ventured into the HO scale markets. The company has seen complete devotion from the Walther family, with Bruce and Phil, son and grandson of Bill, taking care of the company.

After making a mark in the O scale and then in the HO scale, the company ended its manufacturing operations and moved into distribution of rail-road products of other firms. After this major shift in 1960, it continued to function as a distributor only. A foray was made by the company into the N scale market also, making good profits and settling from setbacks.

As per its current operations, the company has acquired more foreign brands of rail road equipment. Another major move included the acquisition of Life Like Products in 2005 along with some other firms. Another major contribution of the Walther group is the annual reference manual for N and HO scale, which contains a detailed listing of products from various model railroading companies
