The history of AHM/Rivarossi dates back to 1945, when the company was founded in Coma by Riva and Rossi, just after the world war. The company has been involved in making toys since 1948 and is widely known for making model trains.

A major player in the trains market from 1960 to 1980, they have been associated with diversity since long. Currently, AHM/Rivarossi have a variety of locomotives, coaches, wagons and tracks to their credit. Having experience which counts up to half a century, the current line of products from them are technically superior with digital interfaces, motors and features. Everything from the packaging to the design of the products has been improved upon, giving them a highly detailed feel and running power.

Due to the low profits and the losses incurred , the company was acquired by Hornby International in September 2004. Hornby International, already having Arnold, Lima and Jouef under its belt, added Rivarossi to its list. Since then, the products have been improved upon by providing more variety, features and technical expertise to them. The new HO Scale train line has been widened to include layouts, building, carts,  tracks and sceneries too.
